The short version
The cerebral cortex, cerebellum and medulla control different jobs; the eye uses the lens and ciliary muscles to accommodate.

Grade 2–3: The wrinkly top thinks; a lower part keeps you balanced; another part keeps you breathing.
Grade 5–6: I can match cortex, cerebellum and medulla to a function each.

Common mistakes
- The medulla does not "store memories". Mixing cortex and cerebellum is a cheap mark lost.
- Do not write that we "fully understand every part of the brain". The mark is often that we do not.
- The pupil is a hole, not a structure that refracts. The cornea and lens refract; the iris only changes the hole size.
- Ciliary muscles do not "pull the lens thin" when they contract. Contraction fattens the lens. This is the most common swap in the paper.
