- A plot dump from the opening to the ending, with no question word, is a Grade 2–3 answer wearing a lot of ink. Underline the question. Only tell the story that proves it.
- Do not only write “Tiny Tim is sad and disabled”. Say what Dickens uses him to argue about wages, family, and who counts as a person.
- A theme dump that ignores the question fails AO1 no matter how many quotations you own.
- A paragraph on Dickens’s childhood in the blacking factory that never touches a quotation is a dump. “Fifteen bob a week” plus workhouse mentions unlocks wages and the Poor Law. Belle’s “golden idol” unlocks a critique of money-worship.
